Gezim is a founder and Executive Director of thinkQ2. Until 2017 he headed the Global Pharmacometrics unit at Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Gezim was responsible for identifying, developing and utilizing different analytical/modelling, Systems Pharmacology technologies and personalized medicine approaches that allow assessment of Disease, drug-exposure and biomarker response relationship in different therapeutic areas within the early and late clinical development.
Before joining Takeda Pharmaceuticals Gezim headed the division of PKPD and Biomarker Sciences at Nycomed and was responsible for defining the PKPD and Biomarker strategies and development plans including the definition of the fit for purpose tailored Biomarker development, Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Modelling and simulation strategies in the translational space and for proof of concepts studies.
Gezim has also headed the department of Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacometrics at Altana Pharma AG and continued to do the same at Nycomed GmbH before he took additional responsibilities in incorporating the biomarker research into the Translational Development. Previously he lead a team within DMPK at Altana Pharma AG.
Gezim was also responsible for setting a PKPD and Pharmacology lab at NAD AG where he was engaged in CNS research.
His expertise stretches through different therapeutic areas such as CNS, Inflammation, respiratory, metabolic diseases, oncology, GI, pain etc.
Gezim studied Pharmacy at University of Sarajevo, Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Greenwich, Toxicology at University of Surrey and completed his doctoral work at University of Tübingen.
Gezim has authored book chapters and several publications in peer reviewed journals, his topic of interest are Pharmacometrics, Systems Pharmacology, Experimental Medicine and Translational Research.
Gezim is a member of CPSP Lake Nona Leadership Council.

Axel is a founder and Executive Director of thinkQ2. Until 2017 he was the Scientific Director and Senior Fellow Pharmacometrics at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, scientifically leading the pharmacometrics group in Europe. Axel was responsible for model-based PK and PK/PD analyses, advanced data mining and model based meta analyses across several therapeutic indications of Takeda. He setup and managed the cloud-based computing cluster and IT infrastructure for scientific computing.
Before joining Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Axel headed Global Pharmacometrics at Nycomed and Altana Pharma.
His expertise stretches through different therapeutic areas such as CNS, Inflammation, respiratory, metabolic diseases, oncology, GI, pain etc.
Prior to his career in the pharmaceutical industry, Axel headed the Proteomics and Metabolomics Group at the German Research Center for Health and Environment. He was an active lecturer at the Technical University of Munich in the area of Bioinformatics and Computational Systems Biology.
Axel graduated in mathematics, computer science and electrical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe were he also received his PhD in applied mathematics with magna cum laude for which he was awarded by the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
Axel has authored book chapters and several scientific publications in peer reviewed journals in pharmaceutical research, computational systems biology, bioinformatics, mathematics and computer science.
